Academic Biography

Evander Nana Bosomefi Eghan is a PhD candidate in Scientific Computing and Industrial Modelling at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana. He holds both an MPhil in Scientific Computing and Industrial Modelling, where he graduated top of his cohort, and a First Class Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from KNUST. His research interests include optimization, healthcare systems modelling, numerical and computational methods, machine learning, scientific computing, high-performance computing, graph theory, differential equations, and smart systems automation. His current research focuses on developing intelligent optimization and scheduling models for healthcare systems and resource allocation. Evander has participated in several internationally recognized conferences, workshops, and training programs, including the Heidelberg Laureate Forum in Germany, the Nordic Probabilistic AI School in Denmark, the Foundational Methods in Data Science Doctoral Training School in Rwanda, the Deep Learning Indaba Conference in Ghana, and the High-Performance Computing for Sustainable Development program in South Africa. He has delivered poster presentations and talks on healthcare scheduling, optimization, and machine learning applications at international conferences and research schools, including the Machine Learning, Optimization and Applications (MLOA) Conference in Rwanda, the Nordic Probabilistic AI School, and the NIMS-KNUST Colloquium. Beyond research, he has served as a graduate teaching and research assistant at KNUST, supporting courses in numerical analysis, differential equations, scientific computing, and high-performance computing. He has also supervised several undergraduate research projects in optimization, queueing systems, computer vision, and machine learning applications. Eghan is a team player, determined, and a true leader. He is deeply passionate about impacting and contributing to the advancement of the study and practical application of Mathematics in Ghana, Africa, and the world at large.
